Mango Kush Indica Dominant Hybrid creative

Mango Kush

Overview

Mango Kush has a scent that is reminiscent of Kush, something between the smell of mangoes and bananas. It also has pine undertones that make it even more appealing, especially to those not accustomed to the earthy smell of cannabis. This strain is an indica dominant hybrid with 65% indica and 35% sativa. It is a cross between Hindu Kush and Mango strain that was created by KC brains.

It has a THC content of 16% and a CBD content of 0.3%. It is a great strain for sedation and is loved for producing minimal side effects. It features dense buds with bright orange pistils. It also has abundant trichomes that give the leaves a snow flake appearance. The buds are hard to break by hand; you may need a blender to work through them. The smoke from this strain is bearable as it is not characterized by the harshness present in other marijuana strains. The hints of earthiness in this strain are distant. The pine undertone sets one in the mood for meditation.

Given the averagely low THC amounts, many patients have preferred this strain for use in the treatment of bipolar related anxiety, depression and cyclothymia. It also helps in settling down hyper active nerves. Expect the cerebral effects from this strain to begin wearing out after three hours, after this you can move on with your business-as-usual feeling much better. You can use this strain at any time of the day. But given that it may cause sedation, you may want to avoid it when you are at the peak of the day.

The plant grows to a height of 5 feet and takes 10 weeks to flower. Like most indicas this strain gives a decent yield when growing conditions are optimum.

Terpene Profile

Terpenes are produced in the resinous trichomes found on the surface of cannabis buds. Terps are responsible for the unique scents of plants, they also add to the therapeutic value of the plant. As much as they each have their unique benefits, when combined together with other compounds such as cannabinoids and terpenes they are able to produce a stronger and longer lasting therapeutic effect. This “power in numbers” phenomenon is referred to as the entourage effect.

Mango Kush contains the following beneficial terpenes: myrcene, caryophyllene, limonene, linalool, terpineol and fenchol.

Myrcene

This is the most abundant terp found in Mango Kush, accounting for over 50% of the terpene profile. Given, the strong earthy scent that dominates Mango Kush is derived from myrcene. It is mostly known fot its potent pain relieving properties and sedative effects.

Caryophyllene

This terp has a pepperish and spicy scent. You can also find it in cloves, black pepper, oregano and basil. This terpene, unlike the others, has the ability to bind onto cannabinoid receptors in the body. Recent research has shown that this terp can be used in the treatment of alcohol withdrawal symptoms. A study conducted on mice showed that caryophyllene reduces the urge to consume alcohol which is a big factor in alcohol withdrawal. It has also shown analgesic and anti inflammatory properties.

Limonene

This terp has a scent that is reminiscent of freshly squeezed lemons. It has great anti depressant effects and is a potent mood improver.

Linalool

Linalool gives off a floral burst that is dominated by lavender. It works on the mind to produce instant relief from stress and tension. It is the terp to use just before a high pressure meeting or something similar. You can also find it in birch trees, lavenders and mint.

Terpineol

You cannot miss the characteristic smell of turpentine that is given off by this strain. Mostly you will find this terp in conifer trees, but you will also find it in tea tree and nutmeg. It is mostly known for its anti oxidizing properties.

Fenchol

This is not a very common cannabis terp, but it has a good number of therapeutic benefits when it is present. It smells of pines and lemons. Mostly it is used in perfumes, but it also possesses potent anti bacterial and anti oxidizing properties.
