TLDR, just go. Stop thinking about where to go. This is it, go in and try something new.For those needing more details:I thought I knew of just about every kind of beer there is, having had about a thousand or more different beers. I fully expected to go into this store and find you're typical 80% IPA (lame) selection, with maybe stouts, some German Weiss beers, maybe an Aventinus or GoldenDraak, if I was really lucky a good sour from Oude Gueze or a Flemish Red. Or maybe they'd be more local focused and it would be some of the really niche small batch stuff like some of black ravens la petit mort, or some of Fremont breweries really wild (and expensive) limited editions.. and man I couldn't have been more wrong. I fell prey to the Dunning-Krueger effect and, amazingly, I couldn't have been happier for it.Turns out there's a whole different world of beer out there that, for lack of a definable single word category that really encapsulates what it is, essentially celebrates not tasting like beer... and since I'm a huge fan of MANY beer types that would be kind of a downer.. if they didn't taste so damned good!Unlike most beers that taste like hops and have notes of this or that, these beers tell you what's in them and what they taste like and it's potent. If it says blueberries, granola and vanilla ice cream it tastes remarkably and unquestionably like those flavors. No more disagreements among friends of "how do you get THAT note?" these are absolutely refreshing in there straight forwardness. And the options are plentiful, just about every fruit you can think of is represented. Most of these beers fall under the category of being a "sour" beer, meaning that they have fruit added post fermentation, but both "beer" and "sour beer" seem more like a technicality than a good classification. It's one of those things you HAVE to try, they are too good, and different, not to.I spoke with Bones, one of the owners, and sampled 5 of their 8 beers currently on tap. These beers are all carbonated, all had about 5% abv, and were all sweet. Not insanely sweet, not barrel aged stout 16% abv sweet, but about ice cream sweet, or a bit less. Each and every one of them was an entirely novel experience for me and although similar to each other, completely unlike any other beer I've ever had. Lots of mouthfeel, actually creamy in some cases, or thick due to fruit content, so if texture is your thing definitely worth a go. The drinks are a bit expensive but we've all bought groceries recently and you can taste the fruit in the drinks so the math checks out.Craft Connoisseurs are Connoisseurs of this one kind of beer that doesn't taste anything like beer. If you like beer it's worth a shot because it's novel. If you don't like beer it's worth a shot because it doesn't taste like beer. Any foodie should give them a shot because they taste delicious; it's a really interesting style of beer that seems like it could become a major style in the near future. I bought 5 to go that I'm really excited to share with people and see how good they are. One of them is mango sticky rice and I can barely wait to open it and see how much they nailed that flavor! I'll update with more when I do try more.About the venue, clean, nice seating. Tons of playable games, if Magic the Gathering is your thing Bones is your guy.If you are on the fence about trying these, just do it.
This was a wonderful time! Joshua and Bones were so helpful and informative. I tried samples of 6 beers and all were unique and unlike I’ve ever experienced. I’ll definitely be back.
Amazing service, fantastic quality of drinks, and one of the most unique alcohol purchasing experiences. I adore the wide selection, and have loved every drink I've tried so far. Will be back often and recommending to friends!
I WISH I COULD DO MORE THAN 5 STARS! This place is absolutely amazing and delicious! If you are looking for a delicious sour this is the place to go! You can’t go wrong ordering anything on tap, No joke! If you are ever in the area definitely check them out. they won’t let you down! Thank me later!
A great spot for any beer lover! I was blown away by their selection, knowledge and friendly service. If you’re into smoothie/sour beers you will feel like you just won the lotto. Most of these cans are extremely hard to find in the Seattle area. Go check them out and get yourself a treat!
Hands down best beer store for sour ale unbelievable selection and they are always consistent with having the best stuff. There is no other beer store pouring glasses of Rar Brew fresh out of a keg. The employees and owners are also really great people.
Such lovely people here. It's always a delight to visitI hate regular beer but when I had my first smoothie, boy oh boy, I had to find more. These guys have the best selection of smoothie, fruity, sour beers around Seattle from what I've seen.Side note: if the door is locked when they should be open, just walk around the building to the dank dabber, they own that store too and someone will be happy to help you out
I love craft culture, but I don't really like beer. This place gives me the ability to enjoy all aspects of the PNW craft beer culture. Thank you!
What a great place! Stumbled across this place just by chance while in the area. I'm a huge fan of smoothie, slushie type beers and the selection here, including the beers they had currently on tap were awesome. Bones was really friendly and passionate about this type of beer. The atmosphere was great, and the place was really clean and well organized (including the beers in the display coolers; how the middle row was turned so you can read what the beer contains). Ended up having a flight of what was on tap and walked about with a handful of other smoothie, slushie sours. Great place, can't wait to get back when I'm in the area.
Craft has always been the place to pick up fruity sour beers in the greater Seattle area.Best thing is now not only do they have a phenomenal selection but you can drink on location now!Nothing better than playing a round of golf then drinking a blueberry muffin flavor beer off the tap, or grabbing one of the many beers out of the case in a cold glass.
Absolutely love coming in and trying some of the most unique flavors. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful with all my questions. Atmosphere is amazing, especially love the new set up.
Joshua gave us a rundown of literally every beer in the store. Top tier service, really friendly vibes. They had a large selection of sour beers from all over the country. Excited to have this beer store as our new neighbor 🙂
Friendly staff, will help you pick out drinks which is important because they carry really unique stuff - don't come here looking for a basic lager. When I was there majority of the selection were fruity, like sour beers or slushy malt drinks. We got an assortment for a tasting party and while they weren't all winners they were definitely different than what other people brought! There is space inside for like tasting events and I haven't used this service yet but they can also deliver to your home!
If you’re looking for a new and exciting hole in the wall spot for some exceptional craft beers, this is the best kept secret in MLT.Whether I’m looking to treat myself or grab some beers to impress friends, the crew over here keeps me hooked up with beers you won’t find anywhere else, and trust me I’ve checked.Huge selection and weekly rotation of fruited sours, IPA’s, and unique dessert beers. Really love the Urban South’s, especially! If you’re in the area, stop by. If you’re not in the area, make the drive and still check it out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!
